Different Types of Metaphysical Tools and How they Can Help You In Your Spiritual Journey
A person's life isn't one-dimensional or one-sided. In reality, the whole health and well-being of a person is multi-faceted. One facet of health and healing is the spiritual aspect of life. The word "spiritual" can evoke many different thoughts and feelings, but it includes the metaphysical realm for many people.
Metaphysical, by definition, is more abstract. In simplest terms, metaphysics is the study of reality outside what humans can perceive - things like identity, change, time, and spirituality. The latter, spirituality, is one of the most common aspects of the metaphysical. People around the world invest time, money, and energy into developing and connecting to and with their spirituality through metaphysical tools.
The use of different metaphysical tools dates back to the earliest centuries of humankind. These tools were used by a civilization's shaman, or healer, to aid in the healing of a person's body or different spiritual and ritualistic ceremonies.
These early tools were found in nature. Everything from shells, bones, and flutes made from animal tusks were used. As time changed, however, the tools have advanced or changed themselves.
Modern metaphysical tools can and do include a lot more variety. Some of the modern tools still use natural elements, but others have moved outside the natural realm.
Types of Metaphysical Tools
Metaphysical tools can be separated into different types and categories. While these categories can be helpful, the use of metaphysical tools and a person's spiritual journey are highly personal.
Each type of metaphysical tool has its own purpose and use. Of course, there can be differences even within a given category, each of these types of metaphysical tools is meant to aid a person in their spiritual journey.
Incense
A very common and time-tested metaphysical tool is the burning of incense. Incense has been used for centuries. Incense itself is a plant-based material that is burned in an effort to release the aromatic fragrance.
These fragrances are believed to help clear a person's energy and help draw a person into a calm space to meditate
In many cultures or religions, most often Buddhism, people use incense in combination with rhythmic breathing to gain a deeper spiritual connection, disconnect from worldly distractions, or a higher level of consciousness.
Singing Bowls
Another metaphysical tool dating back to the Buddhist religion is singing bowls. These metal instruments date back hundreds of years to a clan of Monks in Tibet. Even in those first years, these singing bowls were connected with spiritual practices and medicinal treatments.
Modern singing bowls are still used in very traditional ways. A person lays on the floor while singing bowls are placed in different areas or configurations - sometimes around a room or directly on a person's body. The bowls are hit or played, and the vibrations can aid in healing or mediation.
Herbs
Everyday kitchen herbs are more powerful than many imagine. These herbs - lavender, rosemary, basil, and oregano - can be used outside your favorite recipes and inside your spiritual practice.
Many of these herbs offer a number of different benefits. Some herbs are used to cleanse energy, reduce mental negativity, and boost mood or consciousness. How herbs are taken in or experienced differs based on the specific herb being used - many are burned, others are brushed over the body, or even brewed into a warm tea.
Regardless of how the herb is presented, each one can aid in a person's spiritual journey.
Crystals
Perhaps one of the most popular modern metaphysical tools is crystals. Of course, crystals are common in jewelry and some electronic development, but many raw crystals can and are used to improve a person's spiritual connection.
The physical make-up of each crystal causes a person's body to react differently. These solid crystals hold energy and exchange that energy with humans. How each crystal does that, however, is different based on the type of crystal itself.
Many crystals are used to boost a person's physical and mental health, interpersonal connections, and even motivation or wealth.
Spirituality may be hard to define and is highly personal, but it's supported by dozens of different tools and habits. Each tool has a specific purpose and use, but each one can bring you closer to your spiritual goals.
